MTS160S Position-Only Magnetic Guide Sensor

The MTS160S is a simplified magnetic guide sensor that reports lateral position only, without measuring or outputting the angle of the magnetic track. This makes it a lower-cost alternative to the MTS160, ideally suited for AGVs and mobile robots that operate at lower speeds or can tolerate more deviation when following curves.

With its 160mm sensing width, the MTS160S delivers 1mm lateral resolution and works seamlessly with a wide range of magnetic tape widths and shapes—flat or square—without any prior setup. It functions efficiently at installation heights from 10mm to 50mm and supports both North and South magnetic polarities. Like the MTS160, it can detect magnetic markers with inverted polarity to trigger additional commands, and it easily manages forks and merges in two-way paths.

The MTS160S features the same rugged IP54-rated enclosure, multiple interface options (including CAN bus and RS232), and intuitive USB configuration utility for straightforward integration. By focusing on position-only tracking, it provides a simpler, more economical solution for AGVs that do not require angular correction for precise path following.
